Where Hands Create.

Dye Your Own Yarn Workshop (Two Sessions)

Want to create a yarn as unique as you are? Would you like to learn how to dye your own yarn without having to worry about the investment and the mess? Well, today, Austin-based Hand Dyer, Doug Upchurch of White Bear Fibers, will be leading a Dye Your Own Workshop at The Tinsmith's Wife!

No Experience Required!

This 2-hour workshop will provide you with the training, coaching, and materials to dye up to two skeins of yarn. We have two sessions scheduled - a morning session from 10:30 - 12:30 and an afternoon session that will run from 1:30 - 3:30 pm!

Cost $30 for the class (does not include yarn) If you want to dye more than the two skeins, there is an additional $5 charge per skein. There is a maximum of 4 skeins per person per session.

The undyed yarn is available for purchase in advance from The Tinsmith's Wife. It is important that you have choose your yarn weight/type at the time of registration as the yarn needs to be soaked ahead of time to maximize your time spent on the dying process. There are three options/weights of undyed yarn to chose from:

Northern Sock: 100% Superwash BFL 4-Ply Sock Yarn, 438 yds, $17

Lagniappe DK: 80% Superwash Merino, 10% Cashmere, 10% Nylon, 231 yds, $17

Northern Silk Sock: 50% Superwash BFL, 50% Silk, 438 yds, $24

Doug has also done a great job setting up a new web form for you to complete so that we have a record of what yarns you want. http://www.whitebearfibers.com/dye-your-own-yarn-tsw/

Please call us as the shop to reserve your spot as well as click on the link above to pick your yarn prior to April 30th, we  will be ready to celebrate yarn and Cinco de Mayo!

This is a great opportunity to play with color and fiber and learn from one of our own local Indie Dyers!
