What a Weekend!

Wendy Solberg - Sunday, April 05, 2009

As Sunday closes, it is awesome to sit and reflect on a busy and fun weekend!

First of all, another wonderful local yarn shop in Katy (Yarntopia) coordinated their second annual retreat to Comfort for a little stitching and together time by the river.  What a tremendous, fun and talented group.  Mom and Dad got greeted warmly from the front door on Thursday with a "Hi, Mom and Dad!" - and the fun continued throughout the weekend.   Several of the ladies even brought hats for our Hats Not Enough collection - now that totally rocks.  Here are a few pictures of the group....

Alvine showing off her gorgeous Feather and Fan (Jane Thornley inspired).....

And only an avid sockoholic would ask to take a photo of  another's feet - yes, I did!  These beauties were designed (and worn) by Sherry Fox.  Aren't they awesome!!  They are out of Noro - and she has promised once the pattern is tested, she will share with us.

Alvine and Sue saying goodbye as they head back east towards Houston!  We cannot wait to see the Katy group on another trip.  Please know ya'll are always welcome!

Sheryl co-owner of Yarntopia is also planning to return in late summer to teach a Tunisian crochet class, and the project will be her own design, which will be a scarf made out of Lorna's Laces Pearl with beads....  AWESOME!  Watch for details as this will be a great class.  Sheryl has also promised to send along a scarf so we can drool in the interim.

We also had a tremendous weekend of fun classes!  We had a toe-up sock class on Saturday using Cat Bordhi's techniques.  Everyone got to make a "fun" heel bowl out of Cat Bordhi's A-Ha yarn.  Eventually it got smoother as we cruised to the baby sock...  Next week (after a bit more practice) we will cast on our socks.  Here is mine....  I did have my Sock Yarnista (monthly sock club from Three Irish Girls) arrive just in time - and then I found an awesome Wendy Johnson (FREE) pattern on the internet.  AWESOME combination.

We also continued on our journey with the Great American Afghan group, which is a blast.  Cyndee shared her bunny that she made from the Artsy Fartsy Mama pattern shared in the last blog.  Look at that face!  Such a cutie.

With this news - I will close.  Hopefully, Mom and Dad will return next week well rested.  May have to rethink the poor wages they get - and might kick in a lunch this next week.  It is Easter.  :-)  As always - I am extremely blessed with the best parents - and am delighted that everyone gets to know how lucky I am.

Have a wonderful, wonderful and joyous Easter.
