Summer Lovin'

Wendy Solberg - Sunday, June 07, 2009

Do, do, do, dah, dah, dum, Summer Lovin'...had me a blast!   Yes, these are the opening strains to 'Summer Lovin' sung by John Travolta in Grease.  I think for me at this moment, I am  just loving all the great yarn and things to knit (said with a manic crazy laugh).

This week I was lucky to be here on a Friday when yarns arrived by UPS and FedEx.  Newly arrived are Three Irish Girls sock (various types) along with the Gardiner Yarn Works patterns!  Socks!!  The Three Irish Girls colors this time are so different from what Mom and I usually choose.  On top of the stack of the picture below on the right (green) is Jack, and the pink, chocolate is Kate...  Lovely Irish names - and the yarns are super!

We also had the GGH/Muench order arrive with Touch Me (ooooohhhh), Fabu, and Cleo.  All wonderful - but Touch Me is one of my favorites.  You gotta love the feel of this super soft chenille.  A bit pricey, but so worth it for one super elegant scarf, hat, or anything!  Mom found coordinated colors so that we can mix and match the fibers for a fantastic shawl - and yes, it will be hard to choose the color!  However, I will be brave and not cast on (yet)!

The Prism order also arrived - and we have gotten some great colors of Cool Stuff and Light Stuff - and some of the colors really match with the Kid Slique that we received (in red, white and blue).  The shawl that can be made out of this is beautiful!  Must cast this on (for sure) as it is with an 11 - and so decadent and fun!

Being here on Friday also gave me a chance to visit with some folks who come on the weekends with Scarves to Throws, which doesn't afford a lot of social time.  Peggy and Margi popped by to knit a bit on their Scarves, and Peggy brought along her afghan - she, very wisely, is piecing together as she goes.  I continue to be impressed with the jewel tones - and how absolutely fabulous this is.  Please know the picture does not do this knitting justice!

As we danced around the shop (moving stuff around) and generally fondling the loved yarns - the cats have continued to be supermodels.  I have also been able to catch some great shots of these babies with my trusty camera.  Here are a few of the shop kitties - and really got some good ones of Laurel.

Laurel - don't you love the soft light behind her?

Look at those eyelashes - such a pretty girl!

Look at me!  I am in the Flat Feet - he, he!

And a week would not be complete without a picture of Noro.  He is such a ham - today he curled up all cute in Dad's knitting basket (yes the shawl is under Noro)...  This is a shot of him snugging down.

Have a great week!  I am going to head home and hopefully finish up my Baby Surprise Jacket as well as get half of Migrations scarf done this week...   Plus the countdown to 40 is still ticking - hopefully it isn't a bomb!  :-)   Focus back on Summer Lovin' and yarn....    Handmaiden is still to arrive.....   Summer Lovin' happened so fast!
