Memorial Day Weekend 2009

Wendy Solberg - Sunday, May 24, 2009

We are still in the midst of our Memorial Day 2009 weekend, and it is always a wonderful time in the Hill Country primarily because of the Kerrville Arts and Crafts Festival.  This is one of our favorites - and there are so many talented and creative folks who come out!  We found beautiful baskets, earrings, yummy cheese, and got to see a lot of familiar faces....  But as Mom and I had left Dad minding the store, we hurried back and just in time as the rain came as soon as we hopped in the car.

Upon our return, we had some familiar faces at the shop too with a visit from Juanita, Brenda, Teri, and Patty!  In addition to a great visit - the group shared their finished projects since their last visit at the end of March.

Obviously Noro felt that he was one of the gang and just plopped down for loving - he does love black pants, Teri!

We had to get a picture with everyone and their finished (or almost finished projects).  From left to right:  Brenda with her Berroco Pima shell, Teri with her Chevron Scarf (Prism Merino Mia & Koigu), Brenda with her crocheted scarves from Lorna's Laces Bullfrogs and Butterflies in Cat Bordhi's A-Ha, and Juanita in her cute capelet from Blue Sky Alpaca Organic Cotton.  Wow - what a team!

Now we open Sunday morning, and it is destined to be a gorgeous day.  The Rose of Sharon outside of the window is just beautiful in full bloom, the flags are waving, and the sun is high!  Don't you love this picture of the view from the side window?  This is an awesome view as you knit at the table.

And of course the blog for the week wouldn't be complete without an ode in pictures to our wonderful feline buddies....

Here is our lovely Gabbie taking a snooze on the front porch.  I went out to take pictures of my finished Caryl's Kerchief for Ravelry uploads - and she opened her eyes for a moment to see if any food was involved.  She is getting a bit chunky with her new-found home.

Then there is Noro and his love of getting his picture taken - I do believe he thinks he is a super model.   Was working to get a picture of my Serengeti socks - and there is Noro saying, "Sock it to me!"

Looking forward to a day of rest (and knitting) tomorrow - perhaps by the pool with a hot dog (or two) on the grill....   My knitting goals are clear for the day - finish May's Scarves to Throws and get the decreasing done on the Serengeti sock.  Gosh, don't you love those kinds of days?!

Have a safe Memorial Day weekend!
