Another great week is closing - AND we are already in November! Not only did we "fall" back and get another hour of knitting time - but we had an absolutely gorgeous weekend. The temperature in the Hill Country was just right, and it is the time of year when I have convertible car envy.... I could just see myself flying down the road with the yarn outstretched behind me in a wonderful, colorful contrail.... Whew - getting a little out there - but you know what I mean. It was a perfect weekend to just "be".
This weekend also showed me that I was "special"; one of our customers, Jane, brought me a special gift. Also, prior to sharing the gift, she was giggling and saying that she saw the pattern and immediately thought of me! Voila - the
Swine Flu Masque ("
because every pandemic needs some levity"). Is this not the best thing ever?! I cannot wait to wear this baby to work this next week! Jane, thank you so much! I am still laughing (under my mask)!
I must say, now, one full year into being a shop owner, the one thing I can truly say is the best part is getting to know our customers and their stories, their families, their pets, and their favorite types of projects. We have a remarkable number of super husbands (e.g., Tim and Mark), great looking pets (e.g., Archie), and definitely some beautiful children. However, I must say that one of the prettiest babies is Aaliyah! We got to know her Mom, Heather, who was determined to make a blanket for Aailyah whom we spent many hours with before she was born. As there is going to be a winter trip to Germany to meet family, a warm hat was definitely in order, and Heather didn't waste a moment whipping up the perfect hat (mittens soon to follow) - and doesn't Aaliyah look beautiful?! We couldn't get her to smile for long, but it sure doesn't matter. :-)
The rest of the weekend has flown by in a blur of smiles, hugs, and general fun. We did have our Great American Afghan knitalong, but unfortunately, I missed most of it. Now I have to get myself caught up on this month's square... Luckily, I do have some more travel for work in the next ten days to get some more knitting done! I am off to San Diego (poor me) on Wednesday - home for the weekend - and then a quick hop to Nashville on Monday of next week. A project that is definitely coming with me is a set of fingerless mitts from the new Churchmouse patterns that came in! Unfortunately as my flight from San Diego doesn't get in until late Friday, we are not having Friday Night Stitches the first Friday of the month! We will just have the one this month (11/20).
In closing (a bit of a truncated end to a rambling blog) - here is a great shot of the kitties just sitting at the table. Not sure if they were signed up for a lesson or not, but Noro was obviously sharing a bit of gossip with Cyndee. Have a great week!
