Green, Green, Green!

Wendy Solberg - Sunday, April 19, 2009

As I drove to Comfort Sunday, I was about knocked out by the gorgeous greens that have leapt into our Hill Country views!  A little bit of rain sure makes the trees come alive, and it also helps to strengthen the beautiful roadside bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush.  AND the colors are set off by the bluest blue sky!  Just bright, happy colors - and times when you are so glad to live in Texas!

This week, as do most weeks, brought a lot of good tidings forward.   For one, we were mentioned in the April 2nd edition of the Kens 5 "I Dig San Antonio Blog" - cool, huh?  Martha Cerna specifically mentions the shop and High's Cafe as spots to visit when in Comfort.  Thank you, Martha!    We also had a visit from the sales rep for Noro on Wednesday, and he was showing some of the Fall yarns to tempt us and it worked.  If you know me - you know how I love Noro, and we will be in for a treat come middle/late July!

Mom and our neighbor also "saved" a mother cat and her six kittens.   The mama cat got spayed, and she and the kittens have been staying at Lindner's Animal Hospital as boarders.  Mom picked up mama cat today (Monday), and she will live behind the shop.  Now, we hope that the six kittens find good homes.  The same shelter where we got Noro and Laurel were happy to have a set of such cuties (check out the one little black one in the top left - and the little girl on the left sleeping Mom said is a ham).   If you are interested in one of these little guys - they can be found at the Kathleen C. Cailloux Humane Society of Kerrville.

Right now, I am feeling a bit crazy insane with patterns, yarns, etc. - I want to cast everything on!  I love knitting!!  At present, I am gleefully knitting on a number of projects (two sweaters, two pairs of socks).  I believe I need to finish a few projects here soon - and I am going to work towards completion on one in the next ten days.  I must say, Mom is making me look great in that she is making sweaters that fit me perfectly.  I do need to reciprocate with a few items going her direction - and Mother's Day will be here in a few weeks.    Do believe Mom will enjoy the Shaped Tee with Collar that I started (and it will be class first weekend in May) and I am loving the project - simple and beautiful!  I think I will also try to create a great beaded flower that will be a great pin.  Here is a picture....

I hope all have a great week enjoying the green, green, green colors!
