Father's Day!

Wendy Solberg - Sunday, June 21, 2009

Today has been a nice Father's Day - for me - as I got to spend it with Dad (and Mom)!  I hope Dad enjoyed his day - he always works hard and does so much of our bidding.  Unfortunately, the tie I am making for him didn't get finished - so the old IOU was given.  To try to make up for being "present-less", this morning, I did swing by Bear Moon Bakery in Boerne and snagged some treats.   Then tonight - we are heading out to the Welfare Cafe (yum) for a Father's Day Buffet in the Goat Barn.  Will definitely get a few pictures and post.

The weekend overall got off to a great start with a good group in for our Friday Night Stitches - and we had a birthday party for Moi!  Cyndee made a wonderful red velvet cake - and it was appropriately decorated with a caution sign - and we had wonderful goat cheese spread from Jane's recent trip to Riodosa - and Bobbie made delicious cheese crisps.  You can sure tell I am a foodie, huh?!  Here are a few snaps from the fun!  Yes, I look silly - but Mom said I had to put this one up...

Mom with Laurel - obviously I was being my typical funny self to get a good laugh!

Despite not finishing the gift I was to have finished for Dad, I did finish the Baby Surprise Jacket as well as making a great necklace with some leftover Noro Silk Garden Sock and a bead that was given to me for my birthday.  Yea!  I love to finish projects!!  Below are a few pictures of the finished objects - the lovely flowers on the fence next door make a perfect backdrop for pictures...  Kinda arty, huh?!

Tomorrow I am off to Worcester, Massachusetts for several meetings related to my "real" job.  I have found about five knit shops near my meeting location - hope I can steal away for a bit to visit at least a few of them.  Should be fun - and I know it will be a bit cooler, so better pack my beautiful new birthday shawl knitted by Mom and Dad!  :-)  Just think of the seafood that I will be eating this week...and the knitting I should be able to accomplish on the flights!

Lastly and most importantly - a few great pictures of the kitties!  Here are two shots of Noro - looking cute on the floor, and then as I was rearranging needlepoint canvases, he had to hop on the ladder to inspect my work....

And of course Ms. Laurel with our brand new shipment of Spud & Chloe!  This yarn is wonderful - the worsted and bulky are a combo of wool and organic cotton, and the fine/sock is a combo of wool and silk.  Super awesome feel - and great bright colors.  Ms. Laurel is pretty too!

What more can you say - but Happy Father's Day and keep stitching!
