Time Slips

Wendy Solberg - Monday, September 28, 2009

Yes, time has slipped away - and fast!  Several folks have noted that I have been "blogfree" over the past couple of weeks.  I do have an excuse - The Taxman Cometh!  Yes, I did procrastinate a bit, and have been in a flurry to get everything together.

In addition to the speeding time taken with tax preparation - we are also getting very excited and pumped for the Best Little Yarn Crawl in Texas!  The event kicks off on Friday, 10/9 - and we are almost ready!  We  have several passports and tote bags available ($15) - and the prizes that have been gathered are wonderful!  Susan from Yarnorama has just done a stupendous job organizing all of us.  Do hope this is the best yet!   THEN right after the Yarn Crawl - we are having our One-Year Anniversary Party!  Yes, it is almost here.  Can you believe it?!  We have gotten a limited edition goodie as well as prizes.  Please plan to come on Friday, 10/16, any time during the day and say 'hello'!

What else - well, we (Mom, Dad, and me) have all been knitting up a storm in the gaps, and we have come up with some pretty neat stuff if we do say so ourselves.  Here are a few snaps of our finished goodies...

Modular Vest out of Berroco Jasper (made by Dad)

Felted Pumpkin out of Louet Riverstone - Too Festive!

Oh, there are just so many goodies...  There are also several more items that are coming done - more pictures soon!  At present, I am knitting on a chunky sock with Wooly Stripes that is out of the knew Interweave Knits Weekend (great magazine), finishing a bulky sweater out of SWTC Dream Big, as well as dreaming of starting several other neat items (e.g., Cat Bordhi Felted Christmas Boot)!

As always - I must end with a great pictures of our feline partners.  Ms. Gabby has gotten quite chubby and plays the Odalisque on the front porch....  Here is Noro gazing at her gorgeous ample beauty.  (Meow)

Have a great week - and don't forget that the second tax day is only two weeks away!  :-)  Also, Cyndee and Michelle, thanks for the gentle nudge to accomplish my blog!  Next step - newsletter!

It's Raining!

Wendy Solberg - Sunday, September 06, 2009

Whew, today blew in a bit of rain, and boy, did we need it!  The smell is amazing, and it sure did bring the temperature down to get me even more excited (if this is possible) about Fall!!  Oh, Fall yarns and projects - they are wonderful!   Just hope it holds out tomorrow...  Do know a few Labor Day BBQs may not be as dry, but hey.

The past couple of weeks have been great - and busy.  Last weekend we had Scarves to Throws.  This has been a nice gathering each month, and it is wonderful to see the different colors and different yarns - and how they knit up in the same pattern.  The monthly class has also brought together an amazing and eclectic group of women.   Bridgit and her aunt are two who have been attending regularly, and each month Bridgit brings her adorable daughters (Emily & Elyse) who are both accomplished knitters!  Here is a picture of the two girls and then a picture of Elyse and her prize winning purse from the Gillespie County Fair.  Pretty awesome, huh?  CONGRATULATIONS, Elyse!

We also have a great time on Friday Night Stitches.  The group this past Friday was special as we were able to celebrate Cyndee's birthday!  Cyndee, a great baker, made her own delicious cake that was decorated beautifully and enjoyed by all.

Look at all the great stuff being knitted!!

Happy Birthday, Cyndee!

Connie (a Friday Night Stitches regular and who learned to knit seven months ago) has definitely won the prize for passion and knitting.  Here she is with her newest project; this is an afghan that is out of the new Knitter's at Home book.

Wait there is more!  Saturday we "unveiled" our projects for September/October!  I think we did pretty darn well with a variety of fun projects for all levels of knitters.  We do hope that folks enjoy the projects and will join us knitting them over the next two months.  More information on these projects will be available in our newsletter.   We are already hard at work for projects to highlight in November/December!

Front Table with two great vests of Berroco Jasper and Peruvia Quick - and a Mountain Colors shawl and a bit of Fall with a felted pumpkin!

Oh, no - I haven't photographed the kitties this weekend!  Apologies to those tracking the lives of our industrious feline duo!  Hope everyone has a great and safe Labor Day weekend!
